Plant Swap Success
Thanks to the 50 or so people and many great pups that came out to the neighborhood plant swap. Not only did folks go home with new friends and greenery, but we also came together with ClayroomSF-SOMA to pot up 15 plants that will be donated to the new transitional youth housing program opening at 1174 Folsom in May.

Our Next Hang

Come hang with your neighbors, cheer on the runners, and enjoy the costumes. Bring your coffee (and maybe a camp chair).

San Francisco was rough and fast-growing after the gold rush β and the growing population drank a lot of beer (some count more than 70 breweries, at least six in SOMA alone). In the 1850s The Jackson Brewery started near the waterfront as it was, near Mission and 10th. Soon they had a malting operation on Folsom, and in the early 1900s bought more land around it, and in 1905 building started on a new brewery β badly damaged in the 1906 quake. The building was completed in 1912, and the brewery operated until prohibition β but unlike the Hibernia Brewery only a few blocks away, the building survived. It's now converted, is a National Historic Landmark, and is one of only two surviving brewery buildings in the city.
