What is the difference between SOMA West CBD and the Neighborhood Association?

The Community Benefit District and Neighborhood Association are different organizations with similar goals, but serve the community in different ways. The CBD operates like a business and is funded by taxpayer dollars and provides infrastructure support for the neighborhood, which differs from the Neighborhood Association which is volunteer supported.

The CBD provides services that address cleanliness, safety, neighborhood vitality and beautification of the district. The neighborhood association has the same goals in mind, but does this through driving community engagement, and providing a voice for its residents and members. The neighborhood association is funded by donations from its volunteers, but may collect dues at some point in the future (see the question on dues below).

Does it cost anything to be a member of the Neighborhood Association (NA)?

There is no cost to join the Neighborhood Association at this time! We're currently operating on donations to fund events. The association is run by volunteers to support the community.
